Indulge my curiosity...

Does anyone else come from a world where the predominant entertainment is radio? Much as I enjoy television and films, I miss a good radio drama. There's something to be said for allowing the imagination to fill in the pictures.

That appears to be the case for many worlds. I do enjoy television, I watch it regularly, but it's not quite the same. I feel it loses some sense of being told a story.

Oh! I know radio dramas! My grandmother listened to those, and I still think she does sometimes. It's been a while since I've heard one. We had a TV, so I usually watched that.

Yes, television seems to have superseded the radio as the home entertainment altar in a number of worlds.

Well, yeah. Moving pictures, graphics, you can see the stories... it's a lot about social stuff, too.

It's a story that's acted out and broadcast over the radio. The performers speak their lines as the characters and someone narrates what's going on around them and makes sound effects. They're very entertaining - I quite enjoy the mysteries and the ghost stories.

They're like television shows, only everything's spoken. The actors speak their dialogue but a narrator fills in everything else. It leaves a great deal up to the imagination.

I've always preferred books, myself, though we don't have either radio or television in my own world.

I quite enjoy books, but I can't imagine existing without at least radio.

Yes, I've heard some of those. All people talking about things. There's certainly value in them, but...

Entertainment was limited to books and live performance. Fashion shows, music... All impressive, but I admit there's a certain splendor to the technology here.

Oh, uh, I... think there's some stuff from Japan in my world that does story and entertainment with just voices? I don't really know much about it. I think it usually has something to do with their cartoons anyway.

Television does seem very predominant through the various worlds.

Someone mentioned something like that. I'm considering simply writing and recording some of my own.

I wouldn't be so arrogant as to say we were the predominant form of entertainment back home, but I did work for a radio station in my world.

I'll have you know that our little town took community radio very seriously.
