Indulge my curiosity...

Does anyone else come from a world where the predominant entertainment is radio? Much as I enjoy television and films, I miss a good radio drama. There's something to be said for allowing the imagination to fill in the pictures.

It's a story performed over the radio. The actors speak the parts and there's a narrator who fills in scene details, and sound effects and background music...

They're very popular where I came from, and there were all sorts. Mysteries were particularly well liked. We don't have television or films like they have here. I'd listen to them frequently.

They're one of the few things I actually miss.

Ah... I listen to radio, sometimes. But the biggest form of entertainment is Television.

Oh! I know radio dramas! My grandmother listened to those, and I still think she does sometimes. It's been a while since I've heard one. We had a TV, so I usually watched that.

And my ghost stories last Halloween were very well received. Those were simply narrated over the 'gear feed.

That appears to be the case for many worlds. I do enjoy television, I watch it regularly, but it's not quite the same. I feel it loses some sense of being told a story.

Yes, television seems to have superseded the radio as the home entertainment altar in a number of worlds.

It's a story that's acted out and broadcast over the radio. The performers speak their lines as the characters and someone narrates what's going on around them and makes sound effects. They're very entertaining - I quite enjoy the mysteries and the ghost stories.

Precisely. I find it more intimate than television.

Spooky tales of supernatural terrors. Haunted mansions and cemeteries and lakes and roads...god, everything was haunted in those sorts of stories.

... But what's the point in that? Won't all that stuff just scare anyone who listened to it?

Most people don't believe in ghosts or witches or anything else like that, at least where I come from. So the fear is the pleasant sort, tempered with the knowledge the things in stories can't possibly hurt them.

And some people simply like to be frightened. There's a holiday dedicated to it, here.
