That's mostly what I was saying, Scar. We don't know what happened, we don't know what befell to cause this reaction.
I just...have the feeling that it's a a minefield full of unpredictable reactions and consequences, should someone try and intervene without invitation.
[She wishes she could just explain why she feels Scar should keep to himself beyond perhaps offering an ear to Alphonse, but even she isn't supposed to know all that she does.]
Only Alphonse can decide and determine what he regrets or doesn't. I know that he's young, but as you've pointed out, he's been through a great deal. He's lived and experienced enough to fight his own battles and stand on his own feet.
Then don't go any further than suggesting that perhaps Alphonse is getting too emotional and would be better served by ending the discussion and stepping away.
I'm only trying to help everyone involved, Scar. This isn't our fight, and we have no right to make it ours.
[Lust is propped up against a tree, her 'gear on her drawn up knees. Her hair's down and the upper curve of Guttle can be seen in the bottom of the frame - he's sleeping partially on her lap.]
It feels more like a proper conversation, when we can see each other. Where are you, anyway?

But I don't want Alphonse to do anything he's going to regret.

I'll... stop keeping you awake, now.
voice
I like nighttime, when it's dark and quiet and still.
voice
[She can't take a hint??]
I'll... leave you alone, now.
[GOOD NIGHT.]
voice
[If he wanted to stop talking to her, why didn't he just say so?]>/small>
If you'd like.

We're actually managing perfectly normal and civil conversation.
voice
[Scar, you are severely underestimating your stupidity when it comes to this woman.]
voice
But if you aren't tired and don't have anything else to do, why not talk?
voice
[What that's supposed to explain, he has no freaking clue.]
video
Really, what do we have to lose?
video
Fine...
[It's far easier to just talk to her when it's only on voice. But... Now what? His uncertainty is evident on his face.]

[The awkwardness is still persisting. He really wasn't exaggerating, when he said that he didn't speak idly with people.]
I... think someone is traveling with me.
[HE REALLY ISN'T SURE, he kind of just... stuck around.
Help.]video
[She can't help it. Only Scar would be unsure of whether or not he had a traveling companion.]
Well, who is it? You have to tell me about them now.
[This is confusing, but positive. Scar needs a friend.]
video
[And just when you thought Scar couldn't get even more awkward...]
I think he's... taken with me.
[Nervous glancing offscreen. HE'S NOT AROUND, IS HE?]
video
...taken with you? Are you certain he isn't just a very friendly man? Different worlds have different standards...
[She's trying so hard not to outright laugh.]
