[Scar nods as he looks down to Miriam, lightly stroking her head and back. Funny, how she hadn't gotten any bigger since her "hatching." Pokémon biology is strange.

He looks up to the 'Gear and frowns at the visible top of the round, blue Pokémon sitting on Lust's lap.]

Do you always sleep with Guttle like that?

Usually he's next to me, but he tries to creep onto my lap. He knows he doesn't fit, he just ends up with his face end on my leg. When I sleep he curls up next to me.

I ask because I remember him being disarmingly heavy.

[Scar is just tiredly babbling at this point. Miriam stirs awake, meowing quietly at the screen. It's been a while since she's seen Lust!]

He's not all the way on my lap. He can't be!

[Lust smiles when she sees Miriam.]

Does she often sleep with you?

[Another small nod from Scar as he watches Miriam nose at the 'Gear.]

I don't keep any of them in their storage balls, much.

I only keep Mammon in his, since he's an ocean dwelling Pokemon. But eventually he'll have a saltwater pool to live in.

Did you know you can teach Pokemon to cook? I think I might, once I learn. They like to do things.

At this supposed house?

[There's that disapproving tone, again. Though his expression is less angry and more skeptical.]

Mine help around the camp with little things. Though Amit and Daniel are the only two who I can trust to be responsible. The other two are like... children, really.

That's how it all started. The idea to get a house. So the sharpedos could have a pool. But I do like the idea, of having a home. My own home, with my own room and my own things.

Chanteuse tries. I think she'd like to cook. Really she likes anything that gets her attention.

How do you expect to realistically pay for one?

[It's an honest question. Then again, Scar is frugal to the extreme, so he wouldn't even consider buying a home unless he was absolutely certain he had the steady funds to maintain it.]

We have a great deal of money.

Greed has plenty, and I have...more than plenty. France is rich and he's essentially family, he just sends it to me.

[Yes, her rich sort-of brother-in-law gives her a very generous allowance, she's not ashamed of this.]

So you're living together?

[Good thing he's in a good mood for this conversation. Scar's already heard enough on the network to know the general answer, but he doesn't want her thinking that.

He's not even touching the France thing.]

We're not people who can live alone. We'll have our own spaces, of course, but yes. We're going to share a house.

[Scar somehow manages to contain the annoyed frown. Somehow.]

At least you'll have a roof, I suppose.

And a place where our Pokemon can be out and in the real world.

We're getting a house together because it's practical. Lots of people do it. Anyway, we're homunculi. We tend to function in small groups.

[She knows what he's thinking, even so.]

You don't need to explain it to me.

[He knows why she is, but it's going to irk him no matter what he says. Scar would rather not discuss this at all.]

I feel like I should, though.

I...don't like doing things that bother you. And I know this bothers you.

[Scar takes a deep breath.]

You're still going to do it anyway. There is no sense in trying to convince me to feel better about it.

I just wish I could understand why it bothers you so much. I know Greed's a man, but...

He's my closest friend. It's not as though we're going to be living together like that. We're going to have separate rooms.

It just... isn't done, Lust. I don't see why you insist on discussing it.

Why can't it be done? I mean that seriously. Why can't two people who happen to be different genders share a building?

Because if we can somehow work out small issues, we might have some chance at the big ones.

It's... a human thing. When people live together, there is a certain obligation to one another that I know he doesn't care about. I don't want to discuss this. Even if I took the time to explain, you wouldn't understand.

Alright. I confess, I'm ignorant of many human conventions and can't understand a number of them. Try as I might.

[It's not a point she can argue, even if she wanted to.]

But...he does care about me and look out for me. Perhaps not in a human way, but we're neither of us really human.

That doesn't make him a good... partner, or whatever you're calling it. He is still reckless and impulsive.

[So yes. Scar's entire problem can be boiled down to "I don't approve."]

I know he is. But what does that matter? He's my closest friend, I'm not trying to be him.

He also cares about me, and takes care of me, and swore to protect me if I needed it. He understands me and cheers me up when I'm sad and wants me to be happy. He listens to me even when I'm talking about nothing and want to talk to fill the silence. Those things do make him a good friend.

Any number of them make anyone a good friend.

[Hint hint, Scar.]

It matters because he's exactly the type to get caught up in a bad situation without even realizing it.

And I don't need his laundry list, either.

[Oh, he gets your hint. And he's going to be a contrary toddler and act like he's ignoring it.]
