[Lust has her device propped up in front of her, so she can sit and rest her chin in her hands to record. Guttle is next to her, on his back, chewing on some sort of toy or treat. For a change, Lust's demeanor and tone are both contented ones.]
Traveling for leisure seems very commonplace in this world. I admit it's something I'm only now indulging in myself but...
I wondered if anyone had any stories they'd like to share. Pleasant stories, about their travels.
I think I'd like to hear some.

Trip's taking a bit longer than I thought it would, but we should be in town before the storm they're warning about hits.
[Too bad neither of them have any idea what a hurricane is, though...
That's unfortunate.]
It's funny, I don't have many pleasant travel stories, but I could probably tell you a couple. About back then, or how I left Central.

[She's sure they'll be in civilization, and she isn't bothered by the idea of spending a few days inside. It's just a bad storm, isn't it? And she's enjoying the journey.]
Oh? I didn't do much traveling, back home. Not the sort that was anything more than just getting from one place to another. Business, not pleasure.

[Because he certainly doesn't consider Amestris his home. This place is more home than that country.]
I learned a lot about the world simply from that escape. Hell of an introduction to how much you missed out on, being told you can escape by driving away.
[If the idea makes him sad, it's hard to tell, because he's smiling.]
None of them questioned me for wanting to sit in the back, thankfully.

[Lust doesn't consider Amestris to be her home, either. Even if she were to claim a place from their world as her own, she hadn't been born - or created - in Amestris.]
It's strange, how one little realization suddenly makes so many things clear.
[She understands that, even if she didn't quite escape. She came close. And now there's this place.]
Sometimes I'm almost embarrassed, at how little I know about such simple every day things. But I've never had to think about them before.

Having to have things like "cars" or "radio" explained to you... hell, I had to be told what a telephone is. I like all of this new technology... but I'm not sure I would be able to understand how it works.
[He knows enough to be able to use them without much difficulty. Everything but a car, at least. He wouldn't get behind the wheel of one even if driving was something that happened here.]
Neither of us really know much about the outside world. It was so much easier living in that bubble.
no subject
[Lust at least had been out in a world with modern advancements. Telephones and cars and those things were familiar to her.]
I'm thankful I know what I do. Even though I've come to learn a great deal of my theoretical knowledge is antiquated. I shouldn't be surprised.
[Their master had been old. The place that had been 'home' had been old. Old things everywhere - still clinging to life long after they should have been dead.]

Most of my knowledge is of alchemy or warfare. There are plenty of things I could teach a person, should they ask, but the information is rather useless here, isn't it?
[Especially since some of that information includes things like "how to transmute red water into imperfect stones" and "human transmutation".]
I figured out this pretty easily, though!
[He holds up the 'Gear, grinning.]
Back when I first arrived, I asked how to use it. Met this old man who told me he'd show me how things worked, if I wanted. Told me about Pokeballs and the like, too.

Pleasant stories, pleasant stories...Well, I've been here a long time, so I can think of a few.
Oh, I've got one--first, you know what jousting is?
That's it exactly. Good, I ain't gotta explain it.
I had this friend here, once, that was a knight like I am. And one day we were so sick of having nothing to do that we started planning out a sparring match. Except y'know, we didn't want any old fight. I have a pair of Rapidash, so I suggested something a little more interesting. The only problem was, this place gets so damn touchy about people having weapons. It's annoying, you know?
What ended up happening was we used the best substitute for lances we had--a pair of fishing rods. So here we are, a pair of perfectly dignified knights on flaming horses, trying to stab each other with goddamned fishing poles.
...Tell you the truth, I can't remember who won. I do know half of Johto got a kick outta watching it.
[THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED.]
[Lust is attempting not to laugh in an undignified manner. She's imagining the scene, though, as best she can, and she has to press her knuckles to her lips for a moment.]
Wait...you're an actual knight?

[He's assuming the roadtrip is going well so far. Because yes, he was kind of unhappy and jealous of Greed that they were leaving to have adventures together...but it's not like he was going to stop her. And she does look happy, so it's not like he can truly complain.]
Do you want one from here, or one from home?
[Much as Lust misses having Envy around, she needs to get her own feet under her. And they can always talk. She's glad he responded.]
A lot of the good stories weren't too great when they were happening...
There was once when it was me and those two humans, I've mentioned them to you before. We'd accidentally stowed away on the ferry to Cianwood, but when we came back we paid the fare and got to ride on the actual boat. Much better than hiding in a lifeboat.
[He grins, a little smugly.] Tulio was convinced one of the crew was going to notice that we were the ones who'd jumped out of the lifeboats before, but they never did.
How did you manage to accidentally stow away on a ferry?
[Pause.]
Okay, pissed them off a lot. But if they wanted to keep their money, they shouldn't have been that gullible. We thought the lifeboats would be a good place to hide...didn't think the ferry would leave that soon.
Well, it sounds like an adventure.

I've been to the desert, though.

[Different worlds and all.]
Anyway, my dad was from Brazil and the land was gorgeous. I mean, likely to kill you if you were stupid, but still really amazing, right? There was so much noise of things living out there, we'd go out on walks all the time, just the two of us. Those times are some of my favorite memories of him.
no subject
The desert's like that. It can kill those that aren't careful. It's quiet, though. Not much lives there.
It was the beauty of the place that made it worth the travel, then?
no subject
[Totally reassuring.]
Yeah, that was definitely part of it. But it was important to my dad too, because it was the place where he had grown up. Going there, seeing everything... It felt like I was making a connection to a part of my past.
You ever feel like that?
no subject
[Lust gets quiet, then. She doesn't even know what her own past is, other than a handful of scattered bits and pieces. Nothing that makes a whole picture or memory. There was a place, and a human woman, but all of that was long gone now. The closest thing she has to a connection to her past is Scar.]
No. I've never felt like that.
