[Though a pleasant one. Lust was hardly expecting any visitors this morning, but god knows they show up whether expected or not. She's clearly in the midst of some housework, an apron on over her dark sweater dress and her hair pulled back in a long braid. There's a particularly petite and small Espurr, pink bow around its neck, perched on her shoulder and clinging to her hair.]
[Her eyes widen a fraction in surprise when she registers the giant man's uncovered face. It's...perfectly normal. She's never asked, it's not her place, but she'd assumed the mask was worn to cover something. Damage or scarring of some sort. She knows enough of the world Krieg and Timothy and the rest come from, and how violent it is. Now she's even more curious as to the function of the absent mask.]
[But she'll bring it up later. She does have manners.]
Please come in. You'll have to forgive me, I'm trying to clean up after the holidays. It's a bit of a madhouse here when they come. Mind the Eeveelutions, they're always underfoot.
[He steps inside when he's invited, hunching his shoulders unconsciously as usual after walking through a doorway from the outdoors in. The Darumaka cradled in his left arm unburies its face from the soft fabric of his hoodie and turns just enough to stare curiously at the Espurr on Lust's shoulder.]
Happy Mercenary Day, Miss Fitz!
[He means "Merry Christmas", but it might take him another year or two before he gets the right holiday name. In any case, the spirit of the two is mostly the same (though Christmas, he's learned, comes with significantly less slaughter than Merc Day). Which is why he brought a gift! One large mason jar filled to bursting with homemade jerky, which he offers to Lust once he's properly indoors.]
[She'd learned that last year. It sounds...well, like everything in their world. Odd and violent.]
[As Lust has warned, the living room is swarming with eeveelutions. It's hard to tell how many there are, as they're all stirred up by someone coming into the house.]
You might not want to put your little friend down, they're very rowdy. They'll settle in a bit. Darn'n'Stormy, stop that, you know better!
[That's directed at one of the Umbreons scrambling up onto the back of the couch. Lust lifts the little Espurr off of her shoulder...only to place it in her apron pocket instead. The little violet Pokemon seems used to this, tucking in and gripping the pocket edge with her paws. And then she notices that Krieg has brought something for her.]
Oh! Thank you, it was kind of you to come by in person.
Yeah! The presents and the trees are the same, though!
[Dang that is a lot of long-eared cat-puppies. Even if the Zen Doll would allow him to set it down, Krieg probably wouldn't, even without Lust's warning.]
Didn't want the glass to break.
[Which, admittedly, is a very minor worry when entrusting a package to Torch Dragon, but still. There's always the possibility.]
[He catches sight of a Sylveon in the cat-puppy storm, and he finds his gaze lingering on the small white and pink creature. Thankfully Lust has plenty to say, and he doesn't have a chance to become melancholy because, honestly, he'd much rather pay attention to her than to a creature that reminds him so painfully of someone who's not there.
Her offer of food has his immediate attention, and his gaze swings quickly back to her.]
What's a panini?
[It's a question born from curiosity rather than any sort of suspicion. It doesn't really matter what a panini is. If it's food, he'll happily eat it.]
[Not many, if what everything Lust's learned here is true.]
A panini is a sort of grilled meat sandwich. They're very good and I can make them because the machine does most of the work.
[She isn't incompetent in the kitchen, simply with doing things from scratch. Cooking doesn't make sense to her, logically. Which has simply led to a steady string of purchaces of small kitchen appliances.]
Oh no, it's very simple. Stack things on bread, put it in the machine.
[The sort of cooking that Lust likes.]
I've never mastered the art of cooking, really. My expectations never match reality, the chemistry of it is...perplexing. But I'm perfectly capable of simple things.
I can even manage a basic roast.
[And a casserole here or there. More than enough to feed the house now and again, and make sure Wrath was eating proper meals.]
...and my Pokemon help. Avalon and Madeleine are particularly skilled in the kitchen.
[Both to cook and to eat. It's fast and easy, and, depending on the set-up, there's practically no clean-up!
He glances back at the Eeveeloution swarm, then to the teeny Espurr in Lust's apron pocket, then back up at Lust's face, plainly curious.]
Which ones are those?
[None of them immediately strike him as the type of monster that might be helpful in the kitchen, but he learned a long time ago that the way a monster looks doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot about its abilities.]
[Krieg would be a barbecue person. Lots of fire and charring and smoke, all that sort of thing.]
Oh, those are my Altaria and my Minccino. Avalon, the former, is inherited. Maddie hatched from one of those shiny eggs we all get sometimes. None of those lot are useful for much of anything.
[Said with love and a jerk of her head to the pack of Eeveelutions. She heads into the kitchen, setting about to fix lunch for the pair of them.]
And the little darling in my pocket is Mehitabel, I made Timothy leave her with me when he and the kittens came for Christmas. We had kittens recently.
[Krieg's pretty sure he's never seen either an Altaria or a Minccino, but that's okay.
He has seen Espurr before - Timothy's, specifically. And also...]
I saw the video! A pack of kittens is the best thing for Timothy Lawrence!
[Tim's love for cats is seriously endearing, and Krieg is always glad to see the guy in a good mood. He'd been pretty worried about him after the whole half-blinding, face-branding thing. Even though that was a while ago now, it's still awesome to see him doing so well.]
[Krieg doesn't have one himself, but he thinks Espurr are pretty great. He'll always remember how protective of Tim May was the first time they ran into each other after Tim's...incident...with Handsome Jack.]
Really?
[For some reason, that surprises him. She's been here on this funny, soft little planet even longer than he has, and his team has given him two surprises. First Murder Chicken and Annie, which was a while ago now, and more recently Whisper Bunny and Reiner.]

[Not her world, though. There was a sort of winter holiday, but it was all sun worship and wasn't observed in most places.]
Ah, yes, they're...inherited, you could say. It's a rather long story. I'm quite fond of them, but they're so full of energy.
[When Wrath isn't at home to keep the occupied, they can get into everything. Which they appear to be doing now.]
Would you like something to eat? We have a panini press.

Yeah, okay!
[And then some ghost of Manners Past prompts him to add:]
D'you want any help?
[For a mentally unstable soldier of slaughter, Krieg's surprisingly handy in the kitchen.
...Especially when there's meat involved.]

That's one of the babies?
no subject
[Such darling things, in Lust's opinion. She knows Espurr make many people uneasy, but it's hardly their fault.]
Mmhmm. There are three, two boys and a girl. The boys are with Timothy, but they all came for Christmas. I've never had Pokemon babies before.

Better late than never, right?
no subject
[She shrugs.]
Of course, it's possible it's happened and I just didn't know. If Timothy and I weren't a pair, I'd never have known. I imagine that happens often.
[As closely as they live together, there's so much that's still a mystery about the lives of Pokemon.]
And of course there's wild Pokemon. Who can keep track? I still can't get over that they all come from eggs.
