[The cafe is a nice one. It's not the one he's been.. well, himself at, so he has that much going for him. No one watching them suspiciously helps the ambiance.]

[He looks relaxed. He honestly feels more relaxed than he has in a while, too. Maybe it's a sign that something in his mind is trying to balance things out.]

How have you been, since our night out?

[Brooding and moping mostly, in recent days, but she's not about to admit that. She's left that behind. They're at a nice cafe to enjoy one another's company, she's not going to bring things down. And it is a nice cafe. He has good taste.]

The recent weather kept me indoors. Thankfully I enjoy reading. And Envy always keeps me company.

[He nods, smiling politely.]

Shame about the weather. At least it's decent enough now, right?

[And then he shifts a little awkwardly. He didn't invite her out just for idle chitchat, though he isn't opposed to it.]

Listen, I... I've been told before, that the other homunculi were here. The ones from that other world. All of them, apparently, save for the other Greed. We're nothing like them, but we unfortunately share the same names.

I-- if there's ever anything you want to talk about. About existence. About us. About the lies we were told-- I'll try and listen.

[Lust's lips set in a thin line and she folds her hands in front of her. She fixes her eyes on Greed and takes a rather deep breath. She knows he means well. He's being kind. She does appreciate that.]

There's nothing I want to talk about. I've done more than enough talking recently. At least as far as serious topics that deal with our existence goes. I've had one embarrassing breakdown already, I'd prefer to be spared another. Especially in public.

But I thank you for the offer.

[He lets out a laugh. It's faint and awkward, but fortunately they're not being listened to. He's gotten good at picking up at that sort of thing lately.]

In any event, I'm glad you're here. Gets kind of boring when it's just me.

I'm glad I'm here, too. In the general sense. As strange as this place was at first...I'm growing used to it.

[She hadn't imagined she would, but over time, everything became normal. There were always new things to startle and confuse her, but that was life, wasn't it? It was always full of confusing surprises.]

And I'm glad I'm not alone. I don't know what I'd do without you and Envy.

[They've helped her adjust in ways she can't even put into words.]

It's a strange place.

[Which is a bit of an understatement. But except for that strange weekend, things have had something of a routine to them. Greed isn't the sort to truly enjoy routine, but he also hasn't resorted to violence to get entertainment.

That's something. Probably.]

We homunculi have to stick together.

But it's a nice place. Most of the time.

[And she appreciates that. It's such a change from what she's used to. And she doesn't mind the routine because it's a pleasant and easy one.]

We do. But we're not really homunculi anymore, are we? Though we are...kin, of a sort. Or something.

It is. Much safer than Amestris. I don't know how this place works, exactly, but we're not constantly looking over our shoulders here.

[Then again, he really should have been doing that more.

That and maybe not trust the crazy alchemist, but what can you do.]

Something like that. It's worth hanging onto, if nothing else.

--by the way, the selection of tea is decent in this cafe, if you're interested.

It's a connection. Those are important. And we don't have to worry about much here. Nothing beyond ordinary things that ordinary people worry about.

[For anyone, normal or not. Nothing that could think was meant to be alone.]

Is it? I am fond of tea. I always liked it. I know we didn't have to eat and drink before, but I've always liked the taste of things.

It's good fortune that you showed up, I think.

[Because between the three of them, it was more than enough proof that Dante had always been lying.

And Lust was from his world. They may have been enemies back there, but they weren't now. He's never been good at figuring out relationships. If this is friendship, if it's something else entirely.

Whatever it is, he likes it.]

It's the same for me. I've tried just about everything once. Just so I can say I have.

[She has to admit, if three of them were to be in this place together, she's glad it's the three of them. Whatever was between Greed and the rest of them at home was gone here. And she'd never had anything against him personally.

Coming to know him in this place, she's found she quite likes him.]

I want to try things. I've been thinking about that recently. All those things I could never do or have before.

We have plenty in common, don't we? We didn't meet in the best of circumstances back there. But it's been pleasant enough here.

[He taps his chin thoughtfully.]

I haven't explored past Goldenrod. I'm sure there's plenty to do in this region that I don't know about. Besides that, there's Kanto to explore as well.

It'll be something, at least until we've seen it all.

We do. I'm glad we can know each other, now. I'm glad to know you.

[Even if often their conversations are heavy and sorrowful. Their lives have been the same.]

I think it's one of the reasons I like things so much. I've never had anything of my own before. Even my lovers were chosen for me no matter if I wanted them or not. I want to see what this world has to offer.

I feel the same.

[This might be the first genuinely happy conversation the two of them have had. Greed is terrible at expressing emotions that aren't distinctively negative, but he is grateful. And he's trying.]

Whatever we do in this world is something we choose for ourselves.

[She smiles, and busies herself with her napkin for a moment. Because feelings are difficult things, and she's so unaccustomed to pleasant ones.]

What do you want to do in this world? One thing you'd like to do, that you haven't ever done before?

I...

I want to travel. I want to see the world.

I could have done that. I should have done that. It's not like they would have minded. They were grateful I'd broken them out of their cages at all.

There's plenty of world to see.

[Lust frowns, thoughtfully.]

There's no point in 'should haves'. Who can say what anyone should have done? We did what we did, and here we are. It's time to think of the present and the future, not the past. The past is painful, but the future doesn't have to be.

Yeah. There's this region, and then the next.

I think I'd like to travel on foot just so I have more time to look at it all.

[Maybe so.

But he'd gotten them all killed. They had been so willing to die for him, even though he'd never asked for that kind of loyalty. Even though he didn't think he deserved it.

Nothing we can do would change the past. We can only move forward.

There's more to be seen and found, on foot.

[And she can see it, too, Greed wandering the regions and seeing all there was to be seen. Meeting people, partaking of everything that was offered. She thinks it would be a good life for him.]

As best we can. But we don't have to do it alone. You'll write to me, won't you, on your travels?

Might be lonely, on my own.

Maybe you should come with me.

I'm not sure I have the shoes to go walking across both regions!

[Lust laughs, almost surprising herself. It's honest and real and she's relatively certain this is what it is to be happy.]

I can't imagine you ever really on your own. Not for more than a day, at most. You're like a magnet for people.

Neither do I!

[Is this what it means to be human? To be able to make these grand, ridiculous plans? A part of him wants to do it. To really, truly see the world for everything it is. He'd been to fixated on... on whatever it was, to ever truly embrace wanderlust before now.]

Think about it. It would be nice to have a familiar face along the way.

Maybe I will. I can't live off of France and Envy forever, no matter how often France says I can.

[She rests her chin on her hand, smiling.]

I've been working here. Keeps me busy.

[And out of trouble.]

Cost shouldn't be much of an issue. Unless we want to take the train to Kanto, of course. But it might be easier to head back to New Bark Town. By then, Cedric should be fully evolved.
