"Good evening ladies, gentlemen, and Pokemon. Welcome to the Miss Fitz Story Hour, Presented by Random Assortment Productions. Tonight, please join us for the second installment of The Golden Hand, a tale of blinding greed, dastardly doings, and revenge from beyond the grave.
When we last left our heroes and villains, the fair Mirabelle was wooed under false pretenses by the wicked Thaddeus, who only wants her for her solid gold hand, even murdering her fiance to attain it. But all is not lost....
Envy stars as Thaddeus Kraven, Elsa as Mirabelle Smith, Alphonse Elric as Francis Flemmet, and Teddie as Peter Clemment."
[Opening music, fading. The sound of lapping water and excited voices. FRANCIS narrates.]
There was darkness. Then suddenly stabbing cold. I came to gasping for air and getting only a lungful of water! The blow to my head had rendered me unconscious and I'd been thrown into the river!
I flailed, slipping in and out of darkness, until hands grabbed me and pulled me up....
[The sound of splashing and hushed voices.]
Peter: My god, he's breathing! Hello, hey, can you hear me?
[A hand slapping against something. Francis coughs.]
Peter: There we are now! Saints alive, you're lucky I was passing by, you near drowned!
Francis: So I did! My head....it aches. Oh, but I must return to....
[Francis trails off. There's only the sound of pidgeys and wind through the leaves.]
Francis: Where am I?
Peter: Why, you're just down the way from my farm! No, don't try and sit up! Rest, then I'll take you to the house. We'll set you right!
Francis: But...my Mirabelle...I must return....
[Music swells and fades.]
Alas, I was far from town and too weak to travel. I slipped into darkness again on the banks of the river. If only I'd known what was happening to Mirabelle!
[Music swells and turns to city sounds.]
Mirabelle: I can't believe we're to be married soon! Oh, but...
Thaddeus: But what?
Mirabelle: Doesn't it feel a little rushed?
Thaddeus: Only because I'm in such a rush to make you my wife. Don't fret. In just a few days we'll be wed, and all will be well.
[Dramatic chord.]
By the time I was returning to the city, news had reached me of my untimely demise. And my Mirabelle's engagement. Something was fishy here. I brought Peter with me, to rent us a room and run errands while I stayed out of sight. I sent him to check on Mirabelle, and this new man in her life....
[Dramatic music. Sound of running footsteps in a hall, slamming door.]
Peter: Francis! Francis! You won't believe it!
Francis: By jove Peter, what is it?
Peter: I went, like you asked, to look in on that Mirabelle girl! Only they wouldn't let me in and so I went 'round the back, and I heard a man saying he planned to kill her after the wedding! Something about her hand?
Francis: Saints alive! I must do something! This man...tell me about him.
Peter: Well, sir, it's like this....
[Music swells to cover dialogue.]
By the time the moon was up, Peter had told me everything I needed to know and a plan was in the hatching. This knave wasn't going to get the best of me, or harm one hair on my sweet Mirabelle's head! I sent Peter on a few more errands, and when he'd returned, it was time to strike!
[Dramatic, eerie music, fading to the sounds of knives and forks and clinking glasses.]
Mirabelle: Everything's nearly ready. For the wedding.
Thaddeus: So it is, my fair darling. I cannot wait till we're wed, and needn't part after supper.
Mirabelle: Oh! Thaddeus! You...did you hear that?
[The sound of something scratching against glass.]
[Thaddeus: A tree branch, nothing more.
[A wailing moan.]
Mirabelle What was that?
Thaddeus: ...someone's stray Pumpkaboo, I'm sure.
[Scratching sounds on glass increase, music quickens.]
Mirabelle: That's no tree branch!
[Furniture being pushed. A glass shattering.]
Thaddeus: Who's there? Show yourself!
Francis: [In an eerie voice] It is meeeeee. Francisssss Flemmmmmettttt...You killlled meeeeee, I have returned for revennnnge!
[MIRABELLE gasps. The sounds of clattering.]
Thaddeus: No! No it can't be!
Mirabelle: There! At the window!
[Thunder rolls. Eerie chords strike. There's a scream. FRANCIS continues to wail and beat against the window.]
Thaddeus: Take her, it was all her idea! I swear! STAY AWAY FROM ME!
[Sounds of running, a slamming door, and a car starting and peeling off.]
Mirabelle: Thaddeus...? I....oh....
[Sound of a body thumping to the floor in faint, music crescendos then fades to the sound of church bells.]
The fright of the evening sent Mirabelle into a faint, but she soon woke and we reunited in true love. We were wed a month later. She looked beautiful in her white wedding gloves. I invited Peter to come live with us, but he returned to his simple farm life.
Thaddeus Kraven was never heard from again. In life or death.
[Finale music plays.]
"Thank you for listening to our production of The Golden Hand. Please tune in next week for Gone Courting, a macabre but lighthearted tale of a man who just wants to find that special someone.
Goodnight, and Happy Halloween."
