Time is such a funny thing.

[Lust is sitting outside, clearly enjoying the early evening, and her Spheal and Eevee can be seen playing together in the background.]

It feels as though I just woke up in this world a short while ago, but tomorrow morning will mark a full year's passing.

When I first came here, I had nothing, not even my life. Now I sit here with my own home, family, people I call friends, a vocation of my own. I've been given a chance to know those I never would have before, offered opportunities that had been ripped away, handed the liberty to dictate my own actions and path in life.

And I think I hated this place, a little, at the beginning. The strangeness of it, the unfamiliarity, the changes it wrought in my physical form.

That's the thing about time.

It changes all things, eventually.

That's not something to do, that's a career. A nice and lucrative one.

I mean there's always something to capture the interest in day to day life. You can't walk to the store without encountering at least the potential for some hours long little adventure. And it's a world of books and shows and foods and sights I've never so much as conceived of in the fantastical sense.

There'a always something to do, every moment of every day.

True. I guess a lot of the stuff here is kind of like what I had at home, but for someone from a very different world I can see where it would be really interesting and exciting.

Not that there aren't things for me to do too, but it's not the same.

For me, home's always been more about the people around you than any given place.

But it's different for everybody.

I will say, though, this whole world feels more like home now than my own ever did.

This world is quite different than mine. Though really, that wouldn't matter. Anything is interesting and exciting to someone who's never controlled their own life before.

It's the newness and novelty, which still hasn't worn.

No one ever tells me I eat too many sweets. I'm sure they think it, but no one's been foolish enough to try and tell me so.

It's perfectly alright.

You have to understand, my basis of comparison is limited. When something is all you've ever known, it's neither good or bad, simply what is. If you've only lived in the darkness and believed darkness was all there was, sunlight is frightfully shocking and takes a great deal of time to adjust to.

... Oh. I think I kind of get it, but... I can't really get it because I'm not you. But... even if you don't know me that well, you can talk to me if you need to.

It's another form of conditioning - if we live through unpleasantness enough, we expect it.

But this place is a pleasant change.

It's alright, I don't expect anyone who's lived differently to understand. Life experiences aren't uniformly equal, we can hardly expect them to be. I am what I am and you are what you are and those are very different things.

The offer is appreciated, but I'm not one who finds solace in discussions of the past. Even with those I hold close.
