Video Post

The new year certainly was pleasant, wasn't it? I think I enjoy this world's holidays.

[Lust's curled up in her living room on the couch, tucked under a blanket with a mug of cocoa and her 'gear propped up on the coffee table in front of her. Her recently hatched shiny Houndour is half across her lap.]

But now that the holiday has passed, I had a query for those who have formalized exercising routines. I've found myself needing to keep fit not simply for aesthetic reasons, but due to a professional need for peak physical condition. Flexibility, muscle strength, physical reaction time...

I've never had to work to keep up with those things before and the sooner I get some formal discipline in my routine, the better. I'd appreciate any advice or specific schools of practice that could be recommended.
foolishwren: is the phrase "going to chipotle with aristotle" funnier if you mispronounce 'chipotle', or 'aristotle'? (Hmmm...)

Hmm...

Maybe yoga? I hear good things about that.

S'supposed to be good for your mind, too.

You totally should!

I've never been much for all that zen stuff, personally, but people really swear by it. Not to mention you need mad flexibility to do the more complicated kinds and that'll probably help with your acrobat stuff.

[Heather you have no idea what you're suggesting...]

Makes sense.

I like to think I'm pretty limber, but I'm no acrobat.

Ever think about freerunning?
foolishwren: I LOVE YOUR WORK!!!! (ohmygod danny devito!!!)

The short description is that it's the art of getting from Point A to Point B in the quickest way possible, no matter what's in the way.

[There's a pause. ... And then, brightly:]

I, uh, I could show you sometime!

I'm pretty good, if I do say so myself.
foolishwren: unfortunately for you all I cannot wait to annoy you and make myself your problem. (good morning everyone)

[Heather's mouth stretches into a big, crooked, enthusiastic grin.]

Great!

--I mean, cool! I'm free whenever. Just grab me at the house sometime.

Sure. Not like I have any plans.

[She rarely does, these days.]
foolishwren: me: i am an atrocity to god, but thank you (someone: ur cute)

Sounds good!

How does 'round one sound?
foolishwren: and the other in a Hello Kitty roller skate (I've got one foot in the darkness)

Cool.

I'll be there!

[A TAD later than she said she'd be there (better fashionably late than never!), Heather galumphs down the stairs, buttoning up the leather coat that she wears all over the place these days as she goes. At her side trots Tricia, a lean and athletic-looking Manectric. The brightly-colored canine's tongue is lolling out excitedly. She always goes running with Heather and it is her FAVORITE PART OF THE DAY.]

Hey!

Ready to go?
foolishwren: YA GIRL... (HEY DEMONS IT'S ME...)

[personal profile] foolishwren 2015-01-21 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
Pretty long, yeah.

I first got into it back home.

But it's easier to practice here without getting pissed off cops yellin' atcha.

[... Why would running get cops yelling at you? LUST WILL HAVE TO FIND OUT FOR HERSELF because Heather's already heading towards the foor with a spring in her step.]
foolishwren: Object Class: Keter. Special Containment Procedures: we cant (SCP 4235: my ass)

[personal profile] foolishwren 2015-01-22 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
[WELL YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE, WONTCHA?]

[Heather shoots Lust a devil-may-care grin over her shoulder, tugging on her collar to adjust it.]

Oh, don't worry.

To wind up in jail, we'd need to get caught.

[AND THAT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN.]

If you'd done as much of this as I have, so would you!

[INDEED IT IS.]

[Heather leads her downtown at a jaunty pace, only occasionally pausing to point out spots of interest, such as the place where she'd once witnessed a runaway Tauros completely destroy the front of someone's garden store, or the cafe where every single item on the menu sucks except for the breakfast burritos, which are inexplicably the best ones you can get in the city.]

[But eventually, they come to a string of alleyways, and Heather stops.]

Okay.

So tell me how long it take to run to the street on the other side of these buildings.

No need to be specific, just make a guess.
