Yeah, Pandora! No seas and no oceans, only deserts and tundra and blight. Nothing green, nothing growing, nothing unscarred by fire and slag and Hyperion.
[He hunches his shoulders briefly - even moreso than they were already - and drops his gaze from Lust's face to the floor, grumbling briefly to himself as the memories invoked by his own words loom upward and crowd together for his attention. It takes a moment and several unintelligible grumbles, but he dismisses them with a sharp shake of his head and blinks his gaze back up to Lust.]
There's no desert here. Something I find a pity, but then I come from the desert. But I imagine the deserts of your world aren't like the deserts of mine.
[That world sounds terrible. A dying place. She isn't surprised at how many there are, brought here from there. If this life is a second chance, a chance for something better...]
For me, this place is home. I come from a violent world, torn by war. My people and my homeland were destroyed by an invading empire - but really, only for the glory of one megalomaniac.
[She knows the hulking man can sympathize, Timothy's told her more than enough about the man who employed him.]
This world...it's so peaceful. I found it ridiculous at first. Now...I'd rather die than go back to where I came from.
[Oh, yeah, that sure does sound awfully familiar.]
Sounds like someone needs an unhealthy dose of bullets to the brain!
[Which was what Jack got. In his brain and other places. Man, what a good day that had been...!
Her declaration about preferring to die over going home hits...well, close to home. His visible eye narrows as he studies her for a few moments, pondering his response.]
Mngh...Didn't care if I died on Pandora, but I think I want to live here.
Mnnh. Good. Hope she stays that way. Handsome Jackoff didn't.
[Which annoys Krieg to no end, every single day! Angel deserves to be here. Krieg...Krieg finds it questionable whether or not he does. He doesn't particularly think so, but then, what does he know? Jack definitely doesn't. That much, he does know.
On the topic of Krieg's Favorite Person, though...!]
...But neither did Angel!
[He practically lights up - as he always does - when he talks about his best friend. He stands up a little straighter, and most of the growl in his voice smooths away to something less dangerous and more warm.]
No more slag cage, no more broken promises, no more lies and deceit, just a normal life with monsters and friends!
[Or what he assumes to be a normal life, anyway. He's no expert on that particular topic.]
Mmm. I can't say I believe the childish notion that there is no person beyond redemption, but... that which watches over this world works in ways we can't understand. There's a reason to it all, simply not for us to know. Perhaps...perhaps for some of us, it's not enough to simply escape our demons. We must be given a chance to face them and cast them aside ourselves.
[But Lust has always been a student of philosophy, searching for meaning and reason to existence the workings of nature. There must be a purpose to suffering, else how could she possibly bear her own existence?]
[And even this world is not without suffering. In ways, she's lost more here than she ever did back in that world she was twice born to.]
Ah, yes, she's a sweet girl. She'll do well, here. It's a kind world, overall. As far as last stops go...I can think of far, far worse.
[Krieg doesn't have the patience for philosophy. Of course, life's pretty black and white for him, and has been for...well, for as long as he can remember. There may be some shades of grey creeping in at the edges after living for a few months in Johto, but not nearly enough to compete with what he knows. And what he knows is that the deserving deserve to die, and the undeserving don't.
It's nice that the population of this planet seems to fall entirely into the latter category, though.]
She is doing well! She deserves a long and happy life! And she can have one, here.

[Lust hopes she's dead. She deserves it, the miserable bitch. Dead and never to show her face here again.]
[At Krieg's other comment, she nods. Her eyes dart to the door she's just recently exited.]
There are things to live for, here. More than I thought there could be. I've been here for three years now and the wonders of this world never cease.
