The new year certainly was pleasant, wasn't it? I think I enjoy this world's holidays.

[Lust's curled up in her living room on the couch, tucked under a blanket with a mug of cocoa and her 'gear propped up on the coffee table in front of her. Her recently hatched shiny Houndour is half across her lap.]

But now that the holiday has passed, I had a query for those who have formalized exercising routines. I've found myself needing to keep fit not simply for aesthetic reasons, but due to a professional need for peak physical condition. Flexibility, muscle strength, physical reaction time...

I've never had to work to keep up with those things before and the sooner I get some formal discipline in my routine, the better. I'd appreciate any advice or specific schools of practice that could be recommended.

Oh, it is. Or at least, it is for the first hour or so, then you start losing your voice and it's ripe for throat spider infections the next morning, and God, am I ready to deal with that! ...never. I am never ready to deal with the consequences.

You tried going to the pool? There is a pool, right?

She's curious about this extreme running or whatever it is that Heather's so very enthusiastic about. And she's found she enjoys spending time with the young woman - she's never had female friends before, it's interesting. She's never gotten along with them well, back home.]

New Years is the best holiday. I'm glad this place finally let us celebrate one right.

As for a workout routine, I do a set of sit ups and pushups, then go for a morning jog. Keeps me in pretty good shape.

I'm not familiar with the right and wrong ways to celebrate local holidays. These are my first.

I do much the same, but 'pretty good shape' isn't good enough. I've become a trapeze acrobat.

I suppose. But there are factors that effect whether a people are simple eager to advance or eager to conquer.

That's the primary intention. Gruesome accidents aren't exactly seat fillers.

True. And there are sometimes people who want to force humanity one way or another, and who have the power to do so. Whether they choose the correct path or not is the real question.

[It's said blithely, but the conversation's getting a bit too close to home for Lust.]

But this world is different. Docile, I think, is the word I want. More fitting than 'nice'. Tame, in a way.

Docile is a good word for it. It's got the sharp edges shaved off, certainly.

But it also offers so many wonders and pleasant experiences.

Valentine's Day is a holiday dedicated to love. People usually celebrate romantic love, usually, and ask out people they would like to get to know better or make plans with those they are already with. Some people celebrate platonic relationships on Valentine's Day, too, and do something fun with friends.

[France's gleeful expression turns not a little bit soppy.]

Envy and I have our anniversary on it.

[Well, that's not going to be awkward at all. Sweet, though, that it's their anniversary. And helpful. Holidays make keeping the date that much easier.]

[Lust tries to imagine 'getting into the spirit'. She grimaces mildly. She can't see it going very well.]

I like the holidays that revolve around drinking and eating. Seems silly to have an entire day devoted to what should always be important, the people who share our lives.

[France's head tilts slightly. He has to admit, he is somewhat surprised by Lust's reaction, and it makes him think a little. It produces something of a rueful smile.]

I suppose I find it useful to have a day dedicated to those we care about. It's not as much a problem here, but in my world, the type of being that I am doesn't allow me to simply be myself on a regular basis. Valentine's Day, and holidays like it, give me a legitimate excuse of sorts to attend to personal connections on my own terms.

I can understand that. And it's your anniversary, beside.

[She wonders if it's really entirely on France's own terms, as he uses a constructed holiday in the first place, but it's a simple matter of semantics and one she knows better than to voice. But the entire conversation makes her think.]

I suppose it's simply that my personal connections, romantic and otherwise, are already the most important and valued things in my existence. Every day I wake up and continue existing is a celebration of them, in a way.

[None of Lust's own team had shown any interest in running, except for Amoz and he'd been napping once it was time.]

Pretty long, yeah.

I first got into it back home.

But it's easier to practice here without getting pissed off cops yellin' atcha.
